Job description

We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Scientist with expertise in LC-MS characterization and analytical method development. This is a hands-on, laboratory-based role with responsibilities including LC-MS development, qualification, and routine analysis. The successful candidate will collaborate closely with multidisciplinary teams across ProtaGene and with external pharmaceutical clients to deliver high-quality analytical solutions and support client programs.

Your Responsibilities

  • Perform LC-MS characterization of biologics: prepare samples (SPE, IP, LLE), run chromatography and mass spectrometry experiments, and generate data that supports client programs.

  • Support lab operation, and the maintenance, qualification, and troubleshooting of LC-MS instrumentation and other laboratory equipment.

  • Independently design and execute laboratory studies, analyze and interpret data, troubleshoot analytical challenges, and communicate findings through technical reports, presentations, and team discussions.

  • Maintain accurate and compliant laboratory records, electronic laboratory notebooks (ELNs), experimental protocols, and supporting documentation in accordance with company procedures and quality standards.

  • Prepare, qualify, and maintain assay reagents, reference standards, controls, and other materials required to support analytical testing activities.

  • Prepare, review, and present project updates, technical data, and study results to internal teams and external clients.

  • Continuously expand technical expertise and develop analytical skills to support emerging assays and characterization strategies for biologics, gene therapy, and cell therapy programs.

  • Collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams to ensure the timely delivery of high-quality analytical results and project milestones.

Job requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry, or a related scientific discipline with 3–5 years of relevant laboratory experience, or a Master’s degree with 1–3 years of relevant experience.

  • Demonstrated hands-on experience with LC-MS analysis of biological samples, including protein extraction and digestion, peptide cleanup and separation, instrument operation, LC-MS acquisition method development, and data analysis is required.

  • Prior experience in the biotechnology, pharmaceutical, or related life sciences industry is strongly preferred.

  • Proficiency with Thermo Orbitraps and software is a strong plus.

  • Working knowledge of biotherapeutic analytical development  (e.g., method qualification and assay transfer) is a plus.

  • Ability to independently plan and execute experiments while managing multiple priorities and maintaining timelines in a fast-paced  environment.

  • Ability to work successfully in both a team/matrix environment as well as independently.

  • Experience with the analytical characterization of oligonucleotides, ADCs, and AOCs a plus.

What we offer

  • Benefits: Comprehensive package of benefits including paid time off (vacation, holidays, sick), medical/dental/vision insurance and 401(k) to eligible employees.

  • Work Environment: Laboratory-based position in a fast-paced, growth-oriented environment.
