As a Sustainability Manager (m/f/d), you actively shape the future of our company.

You develop and oversee the implementation of our strategic sustainability goals, ensuring that we navigate safely and proactively through an increasingly complex regulatory environment. In doing so, you consistently focus on a resource-efficient, future-oriented value chain and make a decisive contribution to our sustainable business success.

Workload: 50% (20 hours per week)

Your tasks:

  • Development, implementation, and continuous refinement of a comprehensive climate and sustainability strategy for the ProtaGene Group,

  • Execution of specific projects to optimize the company's overall sustainability performance,

  • Preparation and management of CSR reporting in accordance with current standards such as CSRD and GRI,

  • Planning, coordination, and execution of sustainability certifications and initiatives, e.g., EcoVadis and Science Based Targets Initiative (SBTi),

  • Recording, analysis, and reporting of CO₂ emissions according to Scope 1, 2, and 3,

  • Development and implementation of strategies to reduce the CO₂ footprint, including the calculation of the Corporate Carbon Footprint (CCF),

  • Identification of relevant CSR trends and developments in the market and industry, as well as preparation of in-depth analysis and decision-making templates,

  • Sustainability-focused supply chain management, including the analysis of data on CO₂ emissions and biodiversity metrics for internal and external reporting,

  • Close collaboration with departments such as Procurement, HR, and IT to embed sustainability within the company,

  • Promotion of a sustainable corporate culture through targeted training, communication, and internal awareness measures,

  • Acting as an interface to external partners, consultants, and certification bodies.

Job requirements

  • A completed degree in environmental or sustainability management, natural or engineering sciences, with a focus on sustainability, environment, sustainable business, or a comparable field,

  • Great enthusiasm for sustainability topics and the desire to actively contribute to transformation,

  • Several years of professional experience in sustainability management, ideally with a focus on CO₂ reduction and ESG reporting in the context of the pharmaceutical or laboratory industry,

  • Excellent knowledge of relevant sustainability frameworks such as the Science Based Targets Initiative (SBTi) and EcoVadis, as well as experience in calculating Corporate Carbon Footprints (CCF),

  • Familiarity with current standards, regulations, and trends in sustainability, such as CSRD or GRI,

  • Strong analytical skills for assessing climate risks and opportunities,

  • A clear, proactive communication style and the ability to structure and convincingly engage various stakeholders,

  • The ability to prepare complex issues in a manner appropriate and comprehensible for the target audience,

  • A high degree of initiative, independence, and goal orientation - you work in a structured, solution-oriented manner with passion,

  • Enjoyment of meaningful work and experience in project management,

  • Confident use of Microsoft Office (especially Excel) and experience with databases and online tools for capturing and calculating ESG data and KPIs,

  • Fluent German and very good English language skills, both spoken and written, for working in an international environment.
